Black History Month: A Journey of Legacy and Reflection

This February, in celebration of Black History Month, our team had the honor of visiting the National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, D.C., followed by a powerful virtual event, "Honoring Our Roots: Stories of Legacy."

African American Museum Visit: Capturing the Experience

Our museum visit offered a powerful look into the lives, struggles, triumphs, and legacy of African Americans throughout U.S. history. From powerful artifacts of the civil rights movement to vibrant displays of Black art, music, and culture, the museum offered moments of deep learning and reflection.

Honoring Our Roots: Stories of Legacy

We were also proud to host the virtual event "Honoring Our Roots: Stories of Legacy," featuring guest speaker Eric Owen Russell and moderated by Francisco Pereyra. Brought to you by Melissa Colon and the Special Projects Talent Acquisition team, and proudly supported by STRIVE, this event reminded us of the importance of sharing our histories and celebrating Black excellence.

Key Takeaways:

  • It’s always a good idea to explore and celebrate your family legacy.
  • Your unique perspectives matter—share them!
  • You have permission to release limiting views of yourself and others.
